Kings XI Punjab Playing 11 : Prediction of ideal playing 11 of Kings XI Punjab for IPL 2020
Want to know Punjab's chances of winning this year's IPL, then read ahead.
Kings XI Punjab over the last 12 seasons have only reached the finals once and that's a pretty lame performance, to say the least considering that they have had some legends of the game representing them. Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Adam Gilchrist, Virender Sehwag, Hashim Amla to name a few, proves' that cricket is a team game and individual performances do not matter at the end of the day.
Fast-forwarding to IPL 2020 played in UAE due to the COVID 19 situation in the country I personally feel this time around Kings XI Punjab has a good chance of making it to the finals day. Let me tell you why. Presenting you ......
The Best Playing XI of Kings XI Punjab for IPL 2020.
- KL Rahul (C) (WK) (Batsman)
- Glenn Maxwell/ Chris Gayle ✈ (All-rounder)
- Mayank Agarwal (Batsman)
- Karun Nair (Batsman)
- Nicholas Pooran ✈ (Batsman)
- Deepak Hooda (All-rounder)
- Krishnappa Gowtham (All-rounder)
- Chris Jordan/ Jimmy Nesham ✈ (All-rounder)
- Mujeeb Ur Rehman ✈ (Bowler)
- Mohammed Shami (Bowler)
- Ishan Porel (Bowler)
Many of you reading this article would have had their eyebrows raised after reading that I have considered Maxwell to open the innings with Captain KL Rahul, let me tell you the reason why. If you remember back in the day in the year 2014, when Kings XI Punjab had reached the finals of the IPL for the 1st time, when the first half of the IPL was being played in UAE due to the general elections and Maxwell coming into bat at the fall of the 1st wicket and taking the bowlers to the cleaners especially Chennai Super Kings. If you remember that, then you probably are a fan of Kings XI Punjab because other than that and a few big innings here and there, there haven't been any substantial innings from a Kings XI batsman, and if you readers don't remember then let me tell you a fact and put this fact in your heads, Maxwell bats sensibly when allowed to bat up the order, he is as destructive as Chris Gayle himself is. If you don't believe me then look up his stats.
One down I have bought Mayank Agarwal in case they lose an early wicket, both Mayank Agarwal and Karun Nair will bring stability in the middle order. Nicholas Pooran can be used as a flotter, then we have the 2 hard-hitting spin bowling all-rounders in Deepak Hooda & Krishnappa Gowtham. I will always prefer Chris Jordan over Jimmy Nesham because Chris Jordan can bowl those important Yorkers at the end of the innings and his recent form against the Kangaroos has been absolutely brilliant and to add to that he is a brilliant fielder too. But if Punjab wants to add to their batting strength they can go to Jimmy Nesham who can also chip in with a few medium-pace bowling. Then we have a spinner from Afganistan and 2 fast bowlers. This team consists of 7 bowling options 3 fast bowlers and 4 spin bowling options, and they even bat deep.
So what do you think about the best playing XI of Kings XI Punjab? Kings XI have a great team this year if they can tick all the right boxes and if they can play as a team rather than a few individual flashes of brilliance that will feature in some random "Top 10 Innings" they surely have a chance this year.
