IPL 2020 SCHEDULE TO BE ANNOUNCED SOON
IPL SCHEDULE TO BE ANNOUNCED ON 6TH SEPTEMBER
The much awaited schedule for the Indian Premier League will be announced on the 6th of September. With only 15 days left for the start of the tournament this is the first time that the schedule is being announced so close to the start date of the actual event. 7 teams have already reached UAE, done with their one week quarantine and have already started practicing for the mega event, except for Chennai Super Kings since their 10 support staff and 2 players had tested positive for corona virus.
The IPL Opener
The much awaited IPL opening game is usually played between the two finalists of the previous edition. So the defending champions Mumbai Indians had to face the runners up of previous edition Chennai Super Kings. But as per current situation, with Chennai Super Kings players being tested positive and the players haven't started their training session, it is very unlikely that we will see these two teams going against each other in the IPL opening game. Sources confirm that the first game will be played between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. And it is to be seen when will Chennai play their first game given their current situation.
Travel Restrictions
There are many travel restrictions and logistical issues that BCCI will have to consider before deciding on the schedule, since Dubai and Abu Dhabi have different rules with respect to quarantine. Another aspect BCCI will have to consider while preparing the schedule is that if one player tests positive, then in that case the whole team will have to go into quarantine, then how will BCCI adjust the schedule of that particular team? With the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) setting an example, it needs to be seen whether BCCI takes a leaf out of their book.
All in all we can say its going be be one heck of a tournament faced with many challenges and adversity, the only thing that needs to be seen is whether the BCCI & the franchise are up for it or no.
The tournament starts on 19th September, 2020 and will go on till 10th November, 2020.
